How to Organize Appointment Types with Categories in Acuity Scheduling

If you offer a range of services, organizing them into categories in Acuity Scheduling makes it easier for clients to find what they need. Categories help you group related appointment types or packages, simplify your booking options, and even allow direct links to specific service groups.

Creating Appointment Categories

To create a new category for your appointment types:

Go to the Appointment Types section in your Acuity dashboard.
Click Edit on the appointment you want to group.
In the category dropdown, either select an existing category or type a new one to create it.
Save your changes, and your appointment type will be grouped accordingly.

Renaming or Deleting Categories

Want to rename a category? Simply click the category name, update it, and save.

To remove a category, leave the name field blank and click save. This will unassign all associated appointments from that category.
If you’d like to transfer appointments to another category instead, just type the name of the existing category and save.

Sharing & Embedding Specific Categories

You can share direct booking links for a specific category. To do this:

Click into the desired appointment type
Choose the Direct Scheduling Link option and copy the link to share with clients
To embed just that category on your website, go to the Embed tab and use the code provided

Categories for Packages, Gift Certificates, and Subscriptions

The same process applies when organizing packages and subscriptions:

Head over to the Packages, Gifts & Subscriptions section
Use the category options to group items as needed
Add, rename, or delete categories following the same steps as with appointment types
